Nonlinear Identification - Identification of nonlinear systems and its applications to microwave systems.

From 01-01-2005 to 31-12-2008

Description

Identification of nonlinear dynamical system is a generic problem with a plethora of applications. At this moment a generally accepted "universal" theory for linear systems exists. The main drawback of this theory is the linearity assumption, which is not valid in practice. The development of a "universal" theory for nonlinear modelling is not (yet) possible. In this project, the class of linear systems is extended to the class of nonlinear systems with the restriction that a periodical input results in a periodical output with the same frequency. It is a significant extension, although some typical nonlinear behaviours are excluded (period doubling, bifurcation, ...). Systems with hard saturation, discontinuities, dynamic nonlinear behaviour, ... are in this class of systems.
