Description
The basic aim is to develop fundamental new modelling structures for the futur electricity distribution system in which decentra- lised generation using renewable energy sources and other small non-controlled inputs and outputs will play a central role. Storage devices, that will become available during the next years, will also play a key role. Therefore, the efforts of two research groups having both international credentials in their field (ELEN on energy system modelling and SISTA on innovative mathematical modelling tools) will combine their efforts, leading to solutions that are not feasible in a mono-disciplinary approach.Team

Herman Verrelst, the founder of KU Leuven spin-off Cartagenia, who has been working in Silicon Valley, US for the last few years will be returning to Belgium to follow the steps of Rudi Pauwels as CEO of the Belgian diagnostic company, Biocartis.
