Structured matrices - Structured matrices and their applications.

From 01-01-2001 to 31-12-2004

Description

This project has the following aims: to analyse the properties of structured matrices, to explore the connections between different kinds of structured matrices, to solve the linear algebra problems in which these matrices appear in a fast and accurate way, to interpret these results in other domains of (numerical) mathematics and to apply the knowledge thus gained to applica- tions. Because these structured linear algebra problems are kernel problems in a variety of applications of system identi- fication and signal processing, the attention will be focused on the development of numerically robust and efficient software for these computations. Selected basic modules will be made available to the users via web computing. A related project especially aiming to software engineering is the project 'SLAP: Structured Linear Algebra Package'.
