EEG-fMRI-integration - Integration of the electro-encephalogram and functional magnetic resonance imaging in the study of cognitive processes and disturbances.

From 01-10-2006 to 30-09-2009

Description

This interdisciplinary research programme aims to integrate two different complementary acquisition technologies, namely EEG and functional MR imaging, and to apply and study this integrated acquisition technology in the study of cognitive processes and disturbances. The integration of both acquisition technologies imposes high technological requirements for the acquisition of the EEG in the MR scanner and the processing of the obtained EEG, as well as for the statistical integration of the very different measurements which are generated by both methods. The integrated results yield simultaneously spatial as wall as temporal information of complex cognitive processes. This is a new area in the study of normal preceptual-cognitive processes, the study of the development of these processes, as well as in the study of patients with cognitive problems.
