COLLECTIVE BEHAVIOUR:
Collective behaviour and optimization : an interdisciplinary approach

Financing: Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO)

Project reference Nr.: G.0080.01
Start: 2001-01-01
End: 2004-12-31

Description:
The objectives of the research proposal are centered around the following themes: 1. Characterization of the complex behaviour of non-linear systems from the viewpoints of circuit-, system- and control theory and statistical mechanics, together with an additional study of the possible links and complementary aspects in these approaches. 2. Synchronization in deterministic and stochastic complex systems related to their collective behaviour and constraining of this behaviour. 3. Applications of the insights obtained to discrete and continuous optimization problems for engineering applications.
