Description:
The main objectives of the FWO research proposal "Support Vector Machines and Kernel Based Learning: Advanced Algorithms" are: 1. Convex optimization for kernel based learning: optimization modelling for problems of structure detection, input selection and model selection. 2. Incorporating prior knowledge and kernel design: adding constraints and obtaining equivalent kernels. 3. Unsupervised learning and exploratory data analysis: dimensionality reduction, clustering and data visualization. The newly developed algorithms will also be applied and compared for problems of microarray, NMR and proteomics data analysis and datamining.
