Dear participant, colleague and friend:

It is a real pleasure for my colleague prof. Naulaers and myself to welcome you to the 40th Annual ISOTT meeting to be held in the summer 2012 in Bruges, Belgium.

The main mission of ISOTT 2012 is to promote interactions and generate cross-fertilization between researchers from different fields and domains i.e. Clinical Applications, Muscle Oxygenation, Cancer, Measurement Technologies, Oxygen Transport modeling and NIRS and Brain Oxygenation. An exciting program is lying ahead. Hence this year talks have been set in colors in the program to indicate the different topics covered. We hope this will help you identify the sessions of particular interest to you.

During the congress we encourage you to meet the board members and perhaps get info on ISOTT membership and activities. Discover what ISOTT can do for you!

On Sunday night we will start with the Welcome Walking Dinner Reception during which we warmly welcome you and your accompanying person to socialize and intermingle with old and new friends.

This year's annual meeting comprises also 3 specific PhD treats:

  1. A Monday's Poster flash presentation for the Promising Local Young Talent
  2. On Tuesday there will be a special and unique opportunity lunch session for PhD students to Meet-the-Experts and
  3. On Thursday the ISOTT's Presidents' Panel Discussion will discuss topics suggested by the students.

The Poster viewing takes place during coffee breaks providing an ideal opportunity to meet the authors during the popular poster walks. In addition, during the poster flash sessions the authors will present their data.

Finally the Social Event Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony will be a special moment to remember at the Concert Hall unraveling its magnificent view of ‘Bruges by night’.

Located at Europe's center, Belgium, and especially the historic city of Bruges, provides an ideal venue, combining its medieval environment with the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of its architecture, the charm of its channels and boot tours and the pride of its old buildings.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bruges and we are very much confident that ISOTT 2012 will be another highly enjoyable meeting combining science and beauty!

With our sincere wishes,
The Organizing Committee
Prof. Sabine Van Huffel and prof. Gunnar Naulaers
