Professional Position

• I'm a visiting researcher (since 2008) at the Computer Security Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology under the department of commerce of the government of the United States. William Burr is the manager of the project I work in.

• I'm also a member (since 2001) of the research group COSIC which is devoted to all areas of computer security and cryptography. The group is presently headed by Prof. Bart Preneel, Prof. Vincent Rijmen and Prof. Ingrid Verbauwhede. 

Research Interests:

• Design and analysis of algorithms useful in cryptology, i.e., making and breaking codes:

  • reductionist provable security of cryptographic algorithms/protocols,

  • algebraic and combinatorial cryptanalysis,

  • experimental analysis of practical ciphers (experimental cryptography),

  • applications of coding theory to cryptology.

• I wrote an essay for the undergraduate mathematics/computer science students to entice them into research in the evergreen subject of cryptology. The essay  is here.[.ps][.pdf].

However, in addition, I'm planning to undertake two other projects on cryptanalysis of (i) stream ciphers (most likely chosen from the recent submissions to the ongoing eCRYPT competition)  and (ii) hash functions (in view of the forthcoming NIST competition) .
