Structuur van IEEE
De structuur van IEEE is opgebouwd volgens twee principes: enerzijds is er een geografische opdeling en anderzijds is er een opdeling volgens studiegebieden.
Geografische opdeling
IEEE wordt geografisch opgedeeld in 10 regions:
- Region 1-6: Verenigde Staten
- Region 7: Canada
- Region 8: Europa, Midden Oosten en Afrika
- Region 9: Latijns Amerika
- Region 10: Azië en Australië
IEEE Student Branch Leuven valt dus onder Region 8.
De IEEE regions worden nog eens verder opgedeeld in Sections, meestal is dit een section per land. Voor IEEE Student Branch Leuven is dit de IEEE Benelux Section. Ook een aantal andere universiteiten in de Benelux hebben een student branch:
Opdeling volgens studiegebieden
Een tweede opdeling verdeeld het brede interessegebied van IEEE in verschillende studiegebieden rond een bepaald thema. Zo'n studiegebied wordt een society genoemd. In totaal zijn er zo 42 societies:

Societies en sections komen samen in Chapters. Een chapter is een deel van een section dat lokale evenementen organiseert binnen een bepaald studiegebied. Binnen IEEE Benelux Section zijn volgende chapters actief:
