Next Wednesday (29/2/2012) 19h30 is the next session of the Soirée Pratique: Build your own robot, focused on sensors. We'll give also some info on the amazeing robot competition that will take place on 23/4.

In September 2010 the IEEE Student Branch Leuven has visited Bavaria. Besides meeting the Student Branches of Passau, Munich and Linz, also interested company visits and social activities took place during this interesting week. Our travel report has been published in the IEEE Germany Section Newsletter, where you can find a detailed description and pictures of this amazing week.

Next Monday, 5/12/2011, our 3th and last session of this semester of the Soirée Pratique: Build your own robot! will take place. This session, we'll focus on the chassis of our robots.

The IEEE student branch Leuven is happy to announce the second session of the Soirée Pratique: Build you own robot on November 28th, at 19h30 in 02.58. This time, we'll have a look at the power of the robot: motors and how to control them.

From the 17th of November until the 8th of December, on four consecutive Thursdays, the IEEE student branch Leuven - PES SB chapter Leuven, organize a series of four "Soirées Techniques"on the future of electrical energy in Europe. The events are co-organized by the K.U.Leuven Energy Institute. The goal of these events is that we, as engineers, know more about energy than what can be read in the newspapers and get inside information by experts in the field.

In the academic year 2011-2012, the IEEE student branch Leuven organizes workshops during which a robot platform will be developed! In the first session, on November 7th, there will be an introduction of the arduino microcontroller, reading from sensors and the application of electrical components.

The results of the award are published on the R8 SAC website, as well as in the September issue of Region 8 News (www.r8sac.org). The certificate of the award will be presented to your Section Chair Wim Van Etten during the IEEE Section Congress 2011 in San Francisco.

Congratulations to all active members of the Student Branch! Your efforts and cooperation have achieved great results in the last years, which are crowned in this award! Thanks to all members and attendees of our activities, without you our branch would not be a success!

In the evening, starting at 19h30, WIE presents a professional talk about CAREER MODELS IN ENGINEERING, by Ingrid Reynaert. As Manager of Academic and Governmental Relations at IMEC, former Advisor Science, Technology and Innovation of the Flemish Government, she will share her personal experiences and advices on building an outstanding engineering career.

The winners of the egg drop contest will be announced during the evening programme in auditorium A. The evening program will be followed by a reception.
