Soirée Technique: Braingineering
On Tuesday, May 11th the IEEE Student Branch Leuven, in cooperation with the EMB Benelux Chapter, organizes its fourth Soirée Technique. The topic will be Brain Computer Interfaces. After three successful editions, we want to offer you more seminars every year about popular scientific topics. The goal of these events is that we, as engineers, know more about the subjects treated here than what appears in the newspapers or what an average person in the pub knows.
Have you even imagined whether it would be possible to communicate with computers through our brain? Is it possible to control machines with our mind? Perhaps, what you though was a myth could be a fact in the future. In this Soirée Technique experts working in this fascinating area will answer some of these questions. Perhaps science fiction is closer than you think!
Moreover, engineers are also helping to improve medical treatments and are developing tools to be used by physicians, e.g. in brain surgery. What before was impossible has nowadays become possible. What before was a hope, has become a goal. Engineering skills have helped to define a new future in medical science. An expert working in the field of brain surgery will explain us more on this technology.
After the Soirée Technique, there will be a reception for all participants. Participation is free but you are required to register online with the form at the bottom of this page.
