Soirée Technique: Super & Cloud Computing

On Monday, December 7th the IEEE SB Leuven organizes its second Soirée Technique, which will now deal with super & cloud computing. After a successful evening on SmartGrids, we want to offer you this type of seminars on a popular hot scientific or technical topic in the engineering world for several times a year. Afterwards, we, as engineers, will all know more than we can read in the newspapers or than the average guy in the pub.

Maybe you have already heard about cloud computing. Today, it is possible to spread out calculations on more than one computer at a time. For instance, the servers of the K.U.Leuven work together with servers of other European universities. But is this just a new hype in the IT world? Or is it an already long existing topic which has recently gained much attention? And what would change for your own work on your computer or your research?

This and more, you will hear on our second Soirée Technique. Both academic and industrial speakers will talk about their view on cloud computing. Companies like RealDolmen, Nucleus and LUDIT (ICTS) will explain what cloud computing is and how this concept is put into practice. More information on the program can be found at the bottom of this page.

After the Soirée Technique, there will be a reception for all participants.

Participation is free but you are required to register online with the form at the bottom of this page.

At the beginning of the evening, there will be an award ceremony of our yearly Student Paper Contest!
