Wednesday December 5, 2007, during our Job Fair, the IEEE Student Branch Leuven announced the winners of our local Student Paper Contest 2007. This year we could send 2 papers to the IEEE Region 8 Student Paper Contest. These winners were selected by our international review committee, the verdict was as follows:

Geert Hellings, "AlGaN Schottky diodes for detector applications in the UV wavelength range" - Second place
William Vandenberghe, "Analytical model for a tunnel field-effect transistor" - Joint third place
Hans Daneels, "A low-power mixing DAC IR-UWB-receiver"
Ratmir Gelagaev, "State Estimation in Distribution Grids"
The first prize paper received a gift certificate worth 100€, the second prize paper one for 50€. The papers in the third place each received a gift certificate worth 25€. The 2 best papers will be representing the K.U.Leuven in the Region 8 Student Paper Contest.
