Company visit Sidmar
On Friday March 9, 2007 the IEEE Student Branch is visiting Sidmar (www.sidmar.be). Everybody is welcome to come along. Sidmar is part of the Arcelor group, the largest steel producer in the world. Products of Sidmar are mainly used in the automotive industry and other sectors where a high level of quality for the steel is required. To deliver this type of quality, Sidmar has a highly automated production process that uses state-of-the-art technology.
To avoid traffic jams on the way home, we will stick around in Ghent after the company visit to eat something and to visit the city. Those who do not want to participate in the evening program can be dropped off at the trainstation in Ghent.
Participation in the company visit is free. The number of seats on the bus is limited, so registering quickly by sending an email to the would be a good idea.
The program of the visit is as follows:
- 12h30 Leaving at Auditorium Oude Molen
- 13h45 Arrival and coffee break
- 14h00 General introduction about Sidmar
- 14h20 Models of the hot rolling mill (oven models, temperature control of the rolls,...)
- 15h20 Visit to the company
- 17h00 Leaving at Sidmar
