Improvements in IC design for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility

On Thursday April 26, 2007, IEEE Student Branch Leuven, in cooperation with the IEEE Benelux CAS Chapter and IEEE Benelux EMC Chapter, organizes a seminar on ‘Improvements in IC design for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility’ given by Professor Etienne Sicard (INSA Toulouse). This seminar will take place from 17h00 until 19h00 at ESAT, the electrical engineering department of the K.U.Leuven (route description), in auditorium A. Afterwards there is a reception.

Attending this seminar is free, but we ask you to register online.

Professor Etienne Sicard (INSA Toulouse):
The challenging ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) issues in the design of electronic systems have moved recently into integrated circuit (IC) design, pushed by a strong demand from the automotive and aeronautic industries. This talk will illustrate the evolution of technology of integrated circuits, the mechanisms for generation of parasitic noise, and a status on standardized and novel measurement methods. Models for predicting EMC performance (ICEM, ICIM, IBIS, etc..) will be presented with a discussion of their efficiency, limits and benefits. The IC-EMC demonstration tool will be used for illustrating the use of these models. Efficient design techniques to improve EMC compatibility will be reviewed and illustrated. This talk will also facilitate a discussion on the tools and methods for improving EMC of ICs.
