In December 2011, the participants of the AWEC 2011 conference submitted a petition to include Airborne Wind Energy in the EU agenda. The text of the petition can be found here .

The petition has received an answer from the European Parliament , as well as two supportive answers by the European Commission, one from the directorate general for energy and one from the directorate general for research and innovation .
