About me

Me

Since December 2010, I am a PhD student at the COSIC research group of the K.U. Leuven (Belgium).
COSIC is part of ESAT (the Department of Electrical Engineering), and ESAT belongs to the Faculty of Engineering.
Inside COSIC, I am part of the Privacy and Identity Management Group .

Previously, I graduated as Telecommunication Engineer at the Escola Técnica de Enxeñeiros de Telecomunicación of the Universidade de Vigo (in the homonymous city) with the master thesis "DummySN: Privacy-preserving social networks", developed at COSIC within the ERASMUS framework.

The title of my doctoral thesis will be (one day): "Privacy in online social networks: analysis and solutions".
My supervisors are Prof. Claudia Diaz and Prof. Bart Preneel.
In my thesis I will try to:

  • Understand privacy risks in social networks.
  • Develop methodologies to systematically analyze these risks by capturing information leakages in the various components of the system.
  • Model user behavior, adversarial knowledge and capabilities as well as metrics to quantify the degree to which privacy requirements are satisfied.
  • Study countermeasures that enable people to access networking services and interact with each other in a privacy-preserving manner.
