BioSCENTer - Structure

BioSCENTer is one of the largest research centers of the Group Science and Technology of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. It emerged from 4 original clusters, which are the research cluster on bioinformatics and systems biology, the cluster on virtual life, the cluster on biomolecular interaction (Biomint), and the cluster on evolutionary biology (iCEB).

BioSCENTer will be coordinated by an Executive Committee, chaired by the coordinator with the following representatives per cluster:

The Executive Committee’s competences will include setting out and monitoring of the strategic lines, monitor the performance, allocate the budget (if applicable), organize meetings, recuite a coordinator (if relevant), organize the activities of the center.

BioSCENTer’s website will be www.kuleuven.be/BioSCENTer

Once a year, there will be a Steering Group, for which all the PI’s of all the research groups involved in each of the 4 clusters, will be invited. Here we will organize a general concertation of all members of the Steering Group on the strategic lines to be followed, collect suggestions for courses for the Doctoral School and organize cross-promotorship for PhD students.

If necessary and relevant, we will also compose an International Advisory Board, the scope of which will be larger than purely scientific.
