Student Evaluations

Tentative list of topics (I'd prefer to have minimal overlap with the previous course).

1. Quick intro into differential and linear cryptanalysis. ( 1 lecture, Samos).
2. Advanced variants of differential and linear cryptanalysis.
    (boomerang, differential-linear, interpolation, high order, multiple linear, etc.)

3. Multiset attacks (square, integral, G-M collisions). (1 lecture, Samos). (slides in PDF)
4. Attacks that do not depend on the number of iterations: slide attacks. (2 lectures)
   a) on block/stream ciphers.
   b) on hash functions (SHA-1).

5. Summarize the state of the art in algebraic attacks.
   a) on block ciphers
   b) on stream ciphers
6. Summarize the state of the art in design/cryptanalysis of hash/macs
     (including the most recent advances).
7. Tradeoff attacks on block/stream ciphers. (2 lectures)
8.
Case studies of RC4, A5/1, Bluetooth, Misty-Kasumi (2 lectures)
mystery, secret writing
9. Other (for ex.  attempts of building PK schemes out of symmetric schemes;
    other attacks on stream ciphers;
T-functions).
